Yellowing lawns green
There are several likely causes of a yellow lawn. Here are three reasons why your lawn may be yellow and how to troubleshoot lawn, using yellow to green lawns.
My lawn turns yellow in summer. If all your lawn turns yellow during the summer it is probably due to soil compaction. The soil has much clay or silt in it hardens as the temperature increases. Hard Ground may, it is very difficult for your lawn to absorb the water it needs to stay green because water comes from surface runoff. This is doubly harmful to the lawn, because the roots of grass can not grow in depth and are therefore not as strong, so your lawn will die easier and will not fight the bugs and infections also easily.
Repair lawn aerate in spring or early summer (see link below for ventilation or renting aeration) and water a regular basis so that the soil does not have a chance to dry out. And to be sure proper ventilation in the fall and help your soil intense for next year.
My lawn turns yellow from lack of sun. Another reason for a lawn was yellow because you have too much thatch on your lawn. Thatch is an accumulation of dead grass and other debris that fixed just above the soil surface. If it is more a quarter of an inch thick, water can be difficult to get to the roots of the lawn. It's like watering your lawn through a tarp.
To correct lawn thatch your lawn every year you will solve this problem. To determine if your lawn needs to be covered with thatch, you can get it aired (always a good idea) and measure the amount of stubble in one cards, or buying a drill (you can even use an apple corer) and remove a core of your lawn and measure the amount of thatch.
Nitrogen fertilizer needs
The most recent lawns have this particular problem. They should be fertilized. If a see a lawn that is yellow with the exception of a few green spots (where the dog pees) I know who need nitrogen fertilizer.
Fix your lawn by adding you want fertilizers contain nitrogen. NPK is the first number listed on the bag. My favorite is the nitrogen fertilizer urea. That number is 46-0-0. I also use ammonium sulfate 21-0-0. I prefer that urea because it is a larger release slow and it takes twice as long.
