4500 years under the desert sun, suffering hellish days, cool nights, sandstorms, the khamsin fear and invasion successive Greeks, Romans, plundered and tourists are extremely stressful, even for an impressive, powerful creature 60 feet tall, half lion, half human. Thus, the Egyptian government decided to begin a complete restoration of one of the most important monuments of ancient Egypt, the Sphinx of Giza, focusing on the chest and neck of the colossal statue. In addition, a group of experts will create a replica of the nose now lost, a decision that surely will be controversial.
ABOUT SPHINX OF GIZA OG
Is it really necessary to say something about the very Sphinx famous? Perhaps not, at least for the initiated or, of course, experts in Egyptology. However, say a few things about it.
A sphinx is a creature in its design with a lion's body and human head. There is no direct reference to its religious significance until the Middle Kingdom, where this figure is identified with God Harmakhis. The Great Sphinx of Giza is the largest representation of this creature in the whole of Egypt, and its contents and timing are not yet fully elucidated, although the theory was built up during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (2558-2532 BC) is the most widely accepted now. However, there is the assumption that the attributes of the Sphinx to Pharaoh Cheops, even visionaries and dreamers who say that the creature existed before the Egyptians.

MYTH AND REALITY
Ancient Egypt is the land of legends and mysteries, too many and too often exaggerated by cinema and literature, bringing us tales of curses, pyramids filled with traps difficult and deadly, moody mummies and pharaohs even exotic. Needless to deal with these ridiculous stories, serious and well documented Egyptology can we provide enough mysteries to satisfy our thirst legends minds. And, of course, many of them directly or indirectly related to the Sphinx impressive, no doubt A-with the exception of its three neighboring pyramidal most famous monument of civilization.
Well-known Egyptologist, is dream stele, erected by Thutmose IV (18th dynasty) after a dream in which the Sphinx offered him the throne of ancient Egypt in exchange for promise to remove the sand that covered the statue. The future pharaoh kept his promise and, perhaps, thank you to the intervention of the Sphinx or perhaps as it happens, the young prince became Pharaoh, although not first-born son of Pharaoh before.
Another famous legend (real many) is this story that refers to some supposed tunnels dug into the Sphinx, the link with the three pyramids, or even with an old library buried in the sands of the desert (probably Lovecraft will love this theoria …) a few years after the Second World War, Prince Farouk, perhaps envying Tuthmosis luck, decided to spend a night in addition to the Sphinx, and when he returned, he told a story about how he found a strange room and large guarded by a robot (?). Recently, a group or holes or cavities were found in the Sphinx, Egyptologist and some said they are a complicated maze of tunnels. But if these cavities were made by the ancient Egyptians, plunders fearless, or are simply fanciful shapes caused by erosion Desert powerful, it is still not clarified.
