My husband and I moved so many times it is difficult to count. These steps have led me to propose Checkerboard Decorating. What is it? Checkerboard design is a plan that allows you to coordinate furniture and at the same time, move from one place to another.
I came with the idea during the days of my husband Force Air. For a while, we moved every year. This does not prevent me from hanging furniture when we got married, so we bought things in thrift stores and antique shops. 3. BUY A FEW PIECES OF QUALITY. Sure, we bought cheap furniture and I sanded and painted. But spam does not last. On the other hand, a few quality pieces will last for years. When our children were very young, we invested in two Windsor chairs. They have added charm to our home track in Texas, Alabama, barracks, our picturesque home in Ohio, several other houses, and our present home in Minnesota. Over the years I had made cushions for the chairs.
4. GET TWO THINGS THAT MATCH. This is where the idea checkerboard is really profitable. Two pieces of furniture that match, as the Windsor room faster that color. We have furniture so inconsistent that I usually paint the walls white. No fridge white, but white beige or gray. When I decorate I take a piece of wood colors into account. The final orange on our antique church pew, for example, goes well with orange cushions on our sofa. I repeated the orange in the cushions I had made for our Windsor chairs, which are now in the kitchen.
6. SOMETHING THAT DO NOT PARTY. Our room has an antique wrought iron bed in it and a chair antique wicker. The wicker chair is drawn to a white, modern table Parson, a model designed by Parson's School of Design in New York. You would not think an old chair that goes well with a modern table, but it does.
7. COLLECTIONS FEATURES. Our kitchen is almost like everyone in the kitchen, except my collection of Antique Iron. The collection, which includes the sad irons, irons Ironing tailoring and electrical systems early, is deposited on the kitchen cabinets. My husband has installed lights to attract attention collection and irons do our kitchen special.
