How to make a doll's head on again?
My daughter took her doll in the tub without my knowledge. When she left, it was water in the body part, I jumped head to let it dry. Now I can not get it again! The head is made of vinyl and the body is plastic. But the hole in the neck now seems to be too small to fit the upper body. I tried to several times to get this head on! Anyone have any ideas or advice I could try? Thank you!
I recommend heating the "neck" vinyl with a hair dryer before trying to get his head turned. The heat makes the vinyl more flexible and gives him a squish "factor" it is not cold (it can be crushed smaller, stretched or greater, depending on how the head is fixed on the doll). I use this method in a new stringing vinyl dolls (like dolls Galoob Baby Face) to retrieve the hard plastic caps in place and functioning perfectly (the catch is usually twice the size of the hole he must go through!) I also used this method to re-join the doll heads on my nieces when his brother remove them. Just let the dryer showing progress made in vinyl for a few minutes …. you feel when the vinyl is pliable enough. PS This is also how the doll manufacturers put eyes inset into a doll head. They effectively heat the vinyl and "jump" the head with a little hot air to distort the holes for the eyes enough to get their eyes in. PPS can also be soaked in hot water (almost boiling) for the purpose of heating same, only soak the part you want to be flexible and prudent handling.
